WTF?
Should I have to pay this difference ? Please let me know people. Thanks

really? maybe I'm not reading this right but while your roommate was gone it was only $200. So let's say that was $200 worth of energy you used. Now that they are back it's $400. That would mean they only added $200, which is just as much as you use...

A lot of that $200 isn't going to really change just because it's 1 or 2 people. The fridge is a lot. The AC is probably most, and it shouldn't double just because there are 2 people there instead of one, unless one person sets the AC to 60 because he's too stupid to understand how thermostats work.
Btw, I forgot to say to the blogger, the bad roommate obviously should have to pay the $200 himself, since that was obviously all him.
In addition, he should have to pay part of the first $200. Probably $200 minus the AC, and any power for any computers/tvs/stereos, washing machine/dryer usage you had.
Easy to figure. Get your winter bill, cut the kwh in half, and multiply that by the current cost per kwh. Whatever that is, plus the $200, is probably close to what his share of the $400 should be.
